Announcement of Winners for the Sixth International MANGA Award
The International MANGA Award was established in May 2007 to honor MANGA artists who have contributed to the promotion of MANGA overseas. This year 245 entries from 38 countries and regions were made.

The Executive Committee of this Award, chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, has chosen 15 works as winners, including a Gold Award work and three Silver Award works.

On Friday, February 8, the ceremony was held in Tokyo to grant the Gold and Silver Awards to the works below:

    〈Story line〉 Khun-Thong is a rock drummer. One day, his mother decides to remarry, so he has no choice but to go to stay with his biological father, who lives on an island and teaches people to play traditional Thai musical instruments. But when Khun-Thong gets there, he finds that his father has died. With nowhere else to go, Khun-Thong decides to live with his father’s young second wife and his pupils, and so he starts to devote his days to learning to play traditional Thai musical instruments.

    This work has also been designated as an excellent book by the Thai Ministry of Education.
    〈Story line〉 What would happen if the Kingdom of Thailand were compressed into a really tiny school? This is an enjoyable anthology of short school stories filled with distinctive characters. Even when the school decides to buy a school bus, the students get involved, leaving the school in uproar.

    〈Story line〉 This depicts the deep friendship that develops between a Japanese girl and a Chinese girl who become neighbors while studying in Paris. The story brings to life the dreams and images of France and other cultures cherished in each of their hearts.

    〈Story line〉 Having cracked under the pressure of work, Budi, a news editor for the TV station MO, had decided to quit his job and prepared his letter of resignation. Then he meets a news reporter who makes him want to continue in his job, but a series of chance events befalls him....
